ONE: MIP Rooney
Baba Kai might not be the best player we have but he is, without any doubt the Most Important Player for Manchester United. I have been trying to say this since the transfer rumors started but somehow I could not find the exact words until yesterday.
He is selfless and when he plays you can see the passion and determination in his every move. As Rio would put it; he is a man on a mission. His mission is always to fly the Red flag higher and above every other, and boy, does he always succeed!
If after yesterday you are still doubting MIP Rooney's loyalty, then my dear you are worse than Mourinho. Finally, Mou admitted defeat on the MIP Rooney issue saying the only way Chelsea could submit a third bid is if MIP Rooney requests transfer within 48 hours.
Even he was not convinced that MIP Rooney wants to leave MUFC. And with that, can we now pay as attention to Schmeichel when he said he spoke to Rooney and the player said he has never expressed his desire to leave the club this year? Let's believe Schmeichel as much as we believed Sir Alex when he said Rooney wants out.
They say actions speak louder than words, if MIP Rooney screaming that he is home did not do it for you, well, go to sleep you are drunk!
TWO: Mourinho
Out of focus.
Every time I hear Mourinho speak I thank Sir Alex for endorsing Moyes. He ran his mouth for months about wanting Rooney and when he said Moyes was to blame for an unhappy MIP Rooney that was the peak of his madness, mwezi mchanga if I may. Believe that last past if you don't know Mou, his mwezi is always mchanga!
In his post match presser Mou said if a player wants to leave a club, fans usually show him the door but United is a special club with special fans for the love we showed MIP Rooney. Special club with special fans, was this meant to rhyme with the Special one in the Welcome-To-United speech he never had the chance to deliver?
THREE: Moyes
"He got one thing right, this is a special club."Ah, thank you Sir Alex for this man!
We are used to being doubted, even during Sir Alex's days. Arsenal were invincibles, Chelsea were said to be taking over EPL and Man City ended an era. The era was ended by a goal difference only to come back in 12 months with an 11 points difference with 5 games to play!
That was with the Legendary Sir Alex, who, even Mou admitted was the manager of managers.
Now we are being written off because we have the weakest team among the big clubs (should we stick to the Big Four or is it the Big Five now?) and Moyes not having a major trophy is not helping. Add Moyes' bad record against the Big Four/Five to that mix and you have yourself a Manchester United 'experts' say will hardly finish in the top four!
Well, Manchester United is not Everton. And if last season and the match against Chelsea is any indication, then I dare say you don't need the best players to win but rather the best team. Best players win awards, best team win trophies. We have the best team and the best manager and we are going to win trophies, I can easily bet on that. And we need some additions in the middle and we are going to get them, I hope.
Moyes started his job less than three months ago and he had to juggle through transfers, tour, injured players, unhappy and want out MIP Rooney. All that plus he had a tough SAF act to follow with the world and some United fans failing him even before he started his tests.
Through all that we saw Welbeck score twice in one match (that is definitely an achievement), Ando is playing full 90 minutes, Valencia looks like he is going to give us a season where we will end up forcing Number 7 on him again, Phil Neville is back, Giggs is player coach, we won Community Shield, he stood up against Mou, kept MIP Rooney etc etc. That is a good start in my score sheet.
We would have loved (and deserved) a win against Chelsea but a goal-less draw where we dominated the game is something we can live with, for now.
We are moving on. Clear handballs that were ignored are behind us. Bring on Liverpool and those Noisy Neighbors, ready or not, here we come.
PS: From now, until further notice Rooney will be MIP Rooney. MIP for Most Important Player.
GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED.
