One Last try

We all remember that Becks goal. But what we didn't know is the fact that Sir Alex was ready to take him off right before the ball went in.

After he tried to score a similar goal and missed, Sir Alex turned to Brian Kid who was his assistant and said;
"If he tries that again he, is off."
 Minutes later, Becks tries again and this time it's a goal. Kidd turns to Sir Alex and told him;
"We'll have to take him off."

Seeing the Invicibles

Remember The Invisibles? Yap, that Arsenal class of 2004 that thought they could celebrate their 50th unbeaten game at Old Trafford! Old Trafford?! Well, as we always say, only one set of dreams come true at the Theatre of Dreams, and that is not the dreams of visitors. This occasion was no different.

But how did Manchester United do it?

SAF in 2009: Moyes is the Best

Back in 2009 club's website collected questions from celebrities that were directed towards Sir Alex.

Here is one of them which is also proof that Sir Alex believed in Moyes since then;

Who do you think is the best manager in the Premier League in terms of man-management and making the most of the resources available to him? Eamonn Holmes, TV presenter

Welbeck is a Mad, Mad, Mad Man United Fan

Like any other national team, England has its share of club rivals. Being professionals that they are, they have to put this aside and do what needs to be done, proudly represent their country.

Joe Hart admits that things are well between Manchester City and Manchester United players but then everyone knows that they have to be extra careful with Welbeck because he is not just a Manchester United player but a mad, mad, mad Man United fan;
"We spoke with them about winning the League [last season] and it was open and respectful and a very good vibe. Danny Welbeck is the worst to crack because he is a mad, mad, mad Manchester United fan. I joke that he can hate me at United but we have to be friends with England. He lives on my road actually and we have some good banter but it is always professional."

There is only One Cantona!

Stumbled across this interview by host Danny boy and guest Rio which was done during a photo shoot for the new 2013/2014 home kit.

Danny: Will you be wearing the collar up or down?
Rio: Down. There's only one person who should be wearing it up and that's Eric Cantonna. He's retired now.

Danny: One of your fellow team members has worn it up in today's photoshoot ...
Rio: Who's that? Is it Wazza?
Danny: You'll see the pictures ...
Rio: Is it Wazza?
Danny: That's a good guess.
Rio: Why's he trying to do a Cantona. There's only one Cantona! (laughs)
Danny: That's Wazza for you, isn't it?

Danny: On a matchday do you have any routines you follow?
Rio: Have you not seen them?
Danny: Well, I’m usually too busy doing my own thing.

 Can Rooney pull this off? I would love to see him try!

How did that collar stay up even after playing and celebrations? Wouldn't we all like to know!

Watch this video as some players tried the Cantona during a photo shoot. Even Giggs tried it and he was not named as a suspect! I guess Rooney makes for an easy target!

Bugs Bunny Pyjamas

I came accross these photos and had a mission to find out what was the story/reason behind. The closest I came was the story from The Daily Mail..

Only useful info there was that they were worn by five players on a flight to Qatar January, 2013.

The players spotting these pyjamas were Zam Persie, Buttner, Powell, Anderson and Evra. That list makes this case even harder! That list has defenders, midfielder, forward, senior, juniors and the mid-aged! No similarities!

The case is still under investigation and ANY information will be appreciated. If someone out there has any info please call us on email us on manutdtanzania@yahoo.com

Here is the evidence we have collected so far;

Here is Ando, Scholes and Giggs. Why are Giggs and Scholes in matching shirts AND they are not similar to those of Ando & Co.?

THEORIES:

Since it was a team building exercise they were going to have, may be matching outfits was part of it. To prove this we will still need more evidence.

Kagawa Initiation

Every club has its own traditions and one of Manchester United's is that a new player has to either give a speech or sing a song.

You can imagine a speech was not an option for Kagawa as he was English challenged (Though would love for him to do a speech in Japanese and see the looks on players' faces)! So he had to sing a song!

Here is Buttner explaining what exactly hapenned;

"He barely speaks English, that’s why he stood out in the middle of Rio Ferdinand’s restaurant while the whole squad was watching him. He then screamed ‘I don’t speak English’, put on the music and started dancing Gangnam Style alone. It was legendary, everybody was on the floor laughing."

You don't believe Buttner? Watch this

The original story is here and an English version is here.

Buttner and Kagawa. Word on street, that 'sign' means Number One in Japanese. And if that's not true these two got some explaining to do.

Scholes says no to Corruption!

By: @MUFCTanzania

Matt Lawton of the Daily Mail secured an interview with Paul Scholes. Knowing what was waiting for him, a very quite and private interviewee he decided to bring a very expensive watch as a gift to get Scholes to loosen up a bit.

The plan did not work as Matt explains;

"But he took one look at the watch, thanked me for it and then drew my attention to the cheap digital Nike one on his wrist. 'If it's all the same to you I'll probably stick with this one.'"

Who gets the rights to Scholes shirt?

By: @MUFCTanzania

Before a Champions League final at Wembley in 2011 while every player was preparing for the match, FIVE Barcelona stars were already having a match of their own.

As it happened Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, Pedro Rodriguez, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta all wanted to swap shirts with Paul Scholes after the game! They had to draw straws in which Iniesta won. The gentlemen's agreement was honored and right after the last whistle Iniesta asked Scholes for his shirt!

Scholes shirt is now safely hanging on one of the walls at Iniesta's house.

Giggs doesn't seem impressed with Scholes in Barca's colors!

A very sad say, that was. Fabio is like, 'WTF Uncle Paul?'

This is another day! Does Iniesta have a wall in his house special for Scholes' shirts?

MUFC Chronicles

Cristiano Ronaldo;
"When we were in training, I used to do a lot of tricks which not many of the other payers could do. Once I was showing my skills to Scholes. After I finished, Scholes took the ball and pointed at a tree which was about 50m away from were he was standing. He said, 'I'm going to hit it in one shot.' He kicked it and hit first time. He asked me to do the same, I tried 10 times, but couldn’t hit it with that accuracy. He smiled and left."

The SAF Chronicles

I'm dead...

Sir Alex had an argument with Peter Schmeichel and when asked what it was like, this is what he (SAF) said;

“He was towering over me and the other players were almost covering their eyes. I’m looking up and thinking ‘if he does hit me, I’m dead’”

Don't we all wish someone had a camera in there? But this might just help our imagination.

Evra's debut

By: @MUFCTanzania

It was against Manchester City in which we lost by 3 -1.

Evra;
"Sir Alex took me off after 45 minutes,I could tell he was angry. He just looked at me, deadly serious, and said, "Mr Evra, now just watch and see what is English football. And learn."

All is well now.

The SAF Chronicles

He is also known as Furious Fergie and he IS Manchester United. You don't successful run a football club for nearly three decades without making some crazy fun stories along the way. In the name of fun, we will be sharing some interesting quotes about Alex Ferguson whenever we can.

Q: Is it true that Alex Ferguson made you cut your hair?

Bebe: He advised me to do that that, yes. I went into his room and saw that he was looking at me, very seriously. ‘Hmmm, that hair.’ Of course, I cut it on the same day. In the next training he did not recognise me (laughs). I passed him several times and did not realise it was me.
