That is all I can say about the match! ADNAN JANUZAJ!
I understand it was just one match, but if last season with Reserves is any indication or 2013 MU Tour was an introduction, we are in for the ride of our lives! I loved absolute everything about his performance and without the slightest of doubts, he is man of the match.
An 18 years old scores a few minutes after he was booked. Then runs to pick the ball and quickly start the game. That was like saying, 'I am too good to celebrate an equalizer.' I was so scared that the media would say he was not happy at OT because he did not celebrate! Second goal was a beauty! Three shots on target, two goals and three points. Isn't that a dream debut?
He has been so good that FA asked MUFC if he can play for England! The kid already has six or seven countries to choose from. Has been called with Belgium and said No. There were rumors that he'd prefer to play for Albania. Either way, by 2018 he'll be eligible to play for England and Scotland. Eight countries, take your pick young Adnan.
As for the rest, was impressed with De Gea. Made some match winning saves. I don't think it was a good day for Rooney. He looked like he was tired and so out of it. Was he not 100% fit? I don't know. van Persie not getting on the score sheet was not for the lack of trying.
Fellaini has a wrist injury and will see a Doctor today. Moyes says it does not look good.
What's a post-match post without quotes? It's all about Januzaj today;
Carrick;
"It's just the start for him. I'm sure he's not going to get carried away with it. But his two finishes... the first was on his weaker foot, you would think. His second one was just a terrific volley. We've got a lot to thank him for"Moyes;
"Starting Adnan certainly wasn’t a gamble for me. I see Adnan in training every day, I saw him on tour and actually he’s even got better since coming back from the tour. I would have probably put him in the team three or four weeks ago. There were a couple of games when I was going to start him. I just felt that until we got a bit of momentum into our play, I thought we had to wait. As it was, he’s looked as good as anybody in training so I thought he deserved to play"Moyes also spoke of the two goals. As much as he loved the second one the first was his favorite of the night;
" I actually really enjoyed the first one. He got hold of it, played it out wide, followed it into the box and ended up scoring from about the penalty spot."
People are already on Januzaj for #7 and comparing him to the likes of Rooney and Cristiano who started young. And adding that they share a birthday with Cris and they made the Manchester United debuts on the same date. Also he is like van Nisterlooy. There is no end to who people can compare him with. Oh, he is also compared to Pele!
I don't care about all that. Number 7? May be next season. Whoever he is compared with, one thing is certain, if he keeps doing what he is doing we will live to tell stories of how we watched the Legend Januzaj made his debut.
Thank God for those two hands.
With Arsenal drawing the gap is now 6 points from 8 of last week. The next two games are home fixtures then we travel to Fulham before hosting Arsenal who face Liverpool before us and Southampton afterwards.
The boys are off to International duties till 19th October when we will host 4th placed Southampton.
he deserves the number 7 shirt, i said this earlier and i repeat over and over again. His touches are marvelous and he doesn't fear any opponent, a type of player who loves to beat opponents with one on one approach/technique same as Lionel
