My Captain

Soon Moyes  ...... and his team will have to make one of their toughest decisions, naming the next Manchester United Captain. This captaincy is not an easy job and its definitely not as glamorous as it looks. It has its moments, lots of them actually, and it has its bad side; if being worshipped by millions of people from every corner of this world is a problem for you, then this is the worst job you can ever imagine.

I don't have a say (YET) on who will be our next Captain. But looking back at some Captains I still love and adore, here are five qualities our next Captain needs to have:

November 29, 2013

How OLD is Ryan Giggs?

With King Eric. Cantona retired in 1997 when he was 30. He is now an actor and movie director.

With Paul Ince and Bryan Robson. Ince retired in 2007 (at 40yrs old) and is now managing Blackpool while Robson retired in 1997 (at 39yrs old)and is now global ambassador for Manchester United.

With Beckham. Becks retired in May 2013 at the age of 38 and is now enjoying being a celebrity.

With Liverpool's Jamie Carragher. Carragher went pro in 1996 and retired in 2013 at the age of 35. Giggs started in 1991 and just made a man of the match contender performance two days before his 40th birthday.

With ex Gooner Vieira. Vieira retired in 2011 at age 34 and is now managing Noisy Neighbors' Reserves.

With current team mates, Jesse Lingard (20) and Wilfried Zaha (21). Giggs was already a decorated professional players when these two were born.

With current teammate Adnan Januzaj (18). If Giggs had a son at 22 he would be 18 by now (teammates???).

Robson to Bruno Gomes and everything in between

Captain Robson and his team landed in Kilimanjaro yesterday and as of this morning he is starting doing what brought him and his team to the beautiful land of Tanzania; climbing the greatest Mount Kilimanjaro. I wish I was a tour guide, a help or just a fly in that team but being towns away from Moshi (that's where Mt. Kilimanjaro is) I will just have to settle for stalking following the action through Twitter.

Some accounts that you can follow and keep up with the #KiliTrek: @MU_Foundation, @ThomasCasserlys, @miss_larrisab and the official trek photographer and videographer @j_lester. And of course @ManUtd and @MUFCTanzania for the #Kilitrek and for Man United issues.

And in supporting Robson, manutd.com have dedicated this week to the Captain. For some of us who did not get to see him play, this is a good chance to get to know the longest serving Captain in the history of Manchester United/Newton Heath.

From last night.

Manchester United Legend to visit Tanzania

Bryan Robson will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this month as part of Manchester United Foundation charity event. The event will take place between 17th and October 26th.

If you did not know; Bryan is a member of the famous #7 club together with Cantona, Becks and Cristiano. Bryan wore #7 before the club assigned numbers to players. Fair to say he is the original #7? He played 461 matches as a Red Devil and scored 99 goals.

Bryan is also the longest serving captain for Manchester United having captained the club from 1982 to 1994.

For more on Robson I recommend this story here.

And today, October 7th, it is thirty two years since he made his Man United debut.

Happy 32nd Captain.

17th - 26th October, a Legend is coming to the beautiful land of Tanzania.

Robin for Number 7?

Traditionally, the Number 7 is won by the star of the team. From Bryan Robson, Eric Cantonna to the recent Cristiano Ronaldo.

Robin wearing Number 20 for 2012\2013, I would like to believe was so it could be even more special when we bring home Title Number 20.

Valencia is owning the jersey now and for 2012\2013 he has not done what we expect a Number 7 should do.

So, should Number 7 jersey exchange owners for 2013\2014? Has Robin earned the prestigious Number?

Should Robin get what he is screaming for?
